Nothing New - Hey, I'm Human!

I recently wrote about how I had a ceremony to release some pain around a buried hurt with my deceased dad. And since that ceremony I've not had any negative or painful thoughts about it.

Haha! Nope! Why?! Because I'm human.

As a human being, I am inclined to repeat behavior patterns. What's important is I am aware of the patterns and I do something to ensure they are transitioning to positive patterns. I chose to have a ceremony to release that hurt. And I know deep within that the ceremony moved negative hurt energy. Some of it is gone; the energy released from my body in a healthy, healing way. And, because I'm human and the hurt is deep and had been buried for a long time, it will take time to completely transform that hurt energy. And that's okay.

What do we as human beings do once we're aware of a buried hurt? That's every person's choice. I've always been drawn to words, so motivational and thought-provoking quotes and mantras help me to be aware of looking for the way to healing through the hurt. Being gentle with myself also helps me heal the buried hurt. For me, gentle is allowing time between commitments; getting up early practice yoga, go on a walk, and eat a healthy breakfast; getting enough sleep for me; journaling; setting boundaries and sticking to them; allowing myself time to let my soul catch up with my body. All of this allows for clearer reflection and more energy for growth.

A wise person once told me that the opposite of love isn't hate, it's fear. I've had a quote on my refrigerator for years that says, "What would you do if you weren't afraid?" I guess the opposite...love. And so, in my hurt and very human way, I try to love all who I cross paths with.

How do you accept your humanness? How are you gentle with yourself?
